We are talking with Wake County Commissioner Sig Hutchinson on the state of affordable housing in the area and the steps being taken to improve it.
Q: In Wake County, what is the state of Affordable housing?
A: We are growing. There are 3,000 counties in the U.S. Wake County. In that 3,000, of large counties we are #2 fastest growing counties with 67 people moving to the area per day. What that is doing is creating a lot of demand on housing and prices are going up. As a result of those prices going up, we are moving out of the affordability space for 56,000 households here in Wake County.
